The Young Center for Immigrant Children's Rights
HOW MIGHT WE ELEVATE HUMANITY OVER POLITICS THROUGH RIGHTS EDUCATION?
The Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights, located at the University of Chicago, is a nonprofit organization that legally promotes the best interests of unaccompanied immigrant children, who are not legally regarded as children and are left to the whims of immigration control entities while they await court orders to determine their future.
The Young Center is working to reform the immigration system and narrative for children, and is the only program in the nation that provides independent Child Advocates who meet with each child to learn their story and understand situations in their home country. Advocates then work with Young Center attorneys and social workers to make recommendations to the courts for the child’s best interests.
We worked with the Young Center team to clarify their positioning and reframe their narrative to better connect with viewers on an emotional level—taking the focus of the discussion off the legal and political framework and putting it where it belongs: on the child.
