DESIGN RESEARCH + PROGRAM DESIGN

HOW CAN WE CREATE THE MOST INNOVATIVE independent SCHOOL IN CHICAGO?

We worked with the Director of Innovation at Francis W. Parker School to develop a strategic plan for how technology, innovation, design, entrepreneurship, and social impact would manifest itself both at Parker and across the country. In short, how might Parker holistically set the pace for innovation among private schools?

As we crafted strategic plan recommendations, we first conducted design research to learn from administrators, board members, parents and students, and led program definition workshops. Next, we worked with the school librarians to create a strategy for how their role and their resources can be most impactful. Ultimately, we created a program recommendation to build a center for innovation at Parker where teachers from both inside and outside of the school can come to learn and experiment with new teaching methodologies.

IMPACT WE SEE
Since our work together, Parker has launched a new $5 Million library project that will integrate technology into curriculum and inspire adaptability and project-based learning like never before.

From our client partner

"Borough + Block was able to help us develop a plan that not only helped us demonstrate our value to the outside community, but also helped us better understand the essence of who we are.

The work we did involved creating a book, essential messaging, and strategies for connecting with the wide variety of stakeholders both inside and outside the school community. The multifaceted process, in which they worked with our teachers to develop a core message around our work helped our group develop a cohesive identity that we could share with our community. As a new 'startup within a school,' they helped us take important steps towards developing our identity within a larger organization.

I highly recommend connecting with Borough + Block, as they will provide both an excellent service and valuable insights about the work you do. Maybe even some that you didn't see yourselves."
